Eric Staniak

Eric Staniak’s journey blends football and leadership at the highest levels. After coaching wide receivers and linebackers at Illinois State (1982-1987), he transitioned into a 33-year career with State Farm, where he rose to senior leadership, guiding teams across the country and helping shape the company’s operations serving over 80 million policies. A 1980 graduate of the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC), Eric met his wife, Betty, on campus. Together, they give back through the Betty and Eric Staniak Portland Endowment, supporting SOJC programs. Eric’s story is one of adaptability, from coaching athletes on the field to leading teams in corporate America—all built on the same foundation of discipline, teamwork, and grit he learned as a coach. Now retired and splitting time between Oregon and beyond, he remains a proud Duck and lifelong supporter of student-athletes.
